How we earn it

Who owns and runs FP
FP is owned and edited by Benedict Talplacido, who is responsible for what goes live. Every verdict is approved by a human before it goes live.
FP isn’t owned by a media company, a political party, or a donor — it’s self-funded.
How the process works
- Written sources. Research is AI-assisted and built on written sources. Excerpts are quoted word for word and linked, so you can read the whole source yourself.
- Two sides. A report needs a left-leaning and a right-leaning news article. New reports hold both outlets to the same bar: Mostly Factual or better on Media Bias/Fact Check (MBFC).
- Independent check. A separate AI fact-check desk verifies the sources and quotes before a report goes up.
- Human approval. Every verdict is approved by a human before it goes live.
FP is a small team across the country: California, Texas, and New York.
The full rules are on the methodology page.
What we do with a claim
- We find the receipts. Every verdict rests on written sources, quoted word for word and linked.
- We put both sides next to each other. A report on the main feed pairs a left and a right news outlet. When only one side has covered a claim so far, the report is listed as Developing on One Side Hides.
- A human signs off. Every verdict is approved by a human before it goes live.
- You can push back. Any verdict can be challenged with the “Challenge this verdict” form at the bottom of the report.
- Corrections are public. When a verdict changes, the change is dated and listed on the corrections page.
Corrections
When a verdict changes, the change is dated on the report and listed on the corrections page. We don’t change a published verdict quietly.
Challenges
Any reader can challenge any verdict with the “Challenge this verdict” form at the bottom of every report. Challenges are reviewed against the sources they cite and never change a report by themselves. If one holds up, the report is corrected. How a challenge works.
